The Box Office Space ● September 4th – 7th, 2009!
A Look At The Weekend’s Winners And Losers!
It was one of the weakest Labor Day Weekends in Box Office History, despite bringing in a wee bit more than last year at this time. You know you’re in for disappointing receipts when the number one flick of the weekend, which happens to be THE FINAL DESTINATION again, only makes $15.4 Million. INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS also retained last week’s 2nd place position with $15 Million. Sandra Bullock’s latest RomCom, ALL ABOUT STEVE, managed to land in the 3rd spot with $13.9 Million in its premiere weekend. Not much but it certainly did better than the Gerard Butler Actioner GAMER, limping into 4th place with $11.2 Million. In the end however, the real loser among the new theatrical contenders was Austin filmmaker Mike Judge and his 10th place opening for EXTRACT with an anemic $5.3 Million. Rounding out the top five was DISTRICT 9 with $9 Million, helping it finally break the $100 Million mark. Go beyond the break out to see the rest of the weekend’s box office results…
