This Week@The Movies: AVATAR, MORGANS, & More!
McJeffrey Looks At This Weekend’s Cinematic Offerings!

George Clooney is UP IN THE AIRHiya movie fans new and old! It’s I McJeffrey here to tell you what is on tap for this weekend at the movies. Who’s excited? Anybody? Ahhh……..come on!! OK, screw all of you! No…..wait….I’m just kidding! Come back damnit! Now before I fill you in on the major releases of the week, allow me a moment to fill you in on the “also rans” in SacTown this weekend. Over at the Century Stadium on Ethan we are blessed to get the latest George Clooney Oscar grabber UP IN THE AIR (playing on two screens no less). I saw this in L.A. and I’m happy to say I really enjoyed it. Over in at the Century Roseville 14 you officially have another chance to catch THE HURT LOCKER, which has gotten rereleased just in time for award season. Great flick! Meanwhile, you cinema snobs over at the Crest (I include myself in that equation) can catch Richard Linklater’s latest ME AND ORSON WELLES and if you are feeling like a middle aged woman who hates movies there is always LA DANSE: THE PARIS OPERA BALLET. Don’t ask me why but this one was very popular in La La Land. Everything you will have to see beyond the break. So come on… (more…)

First up is probably the coolest of all, revealing just how much love and reverence folks have for the original trilogy. Go beyond the break to check it out… (more…)

The Box Office Space ● December 11th – 13th, 2009!
A Look At The Weekend’s Winners And Losers!

The Box Office SpaceAs expected, The Princess and the Frog took the number one spot this weekend earning a solid (if unremarkable) 25 million in its first full weekend. This is Disney’s first hand drawn feature in many a year and though the movie will no doubt have legs, I’m sure the Mouse House was hoping for something more electric. The number two position was taken by last week’s top player The Blind Side which slipped a mere 22% to grab hold of over 15 million more bucks which brings its gross up to the 150 million dollar mark. Not bad work to say the least. How about everything else? Go beyond the break silly and find out yourself… (more…)

This Week@The Movies: Princesses, Frogs, Rugby, & More!
McJeffrey Looks At This Weekend’s Cinematic Offerings!

Nic Cage trying to keep himself from chewing up the scenery in PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANSWatch out, because here I come! It’s been a while but I’m back in style! So get set……to have some fun! I’ll bring you action and satisfaction! I’m McJeffrey — OK, enough singing! Let’s see what we’ve got going down this week! I love exclamation points!! Of course, before we speak on some of this week’s big releases, let’s touch on what is coming out locally in and around our beloved SacTown. Over at the Tower, you can witness Nicolas Cage chew on scenery like a rabid dog in BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS. It’s not so much a sequel to the 1992 Harvey Keitel version as it’s a companion piece. Two completely different lieutenants, but make no mistake, they are both very bad. Over at the Crest, you can indulge in a love affair for the big apple ala NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU, which is from the same producing team of Paris je t’aime. Like that movie, New York is a bunch of short films that take place in and about the city. Unlike Paris, the reviews have been predominantly mixed. Finally, if you’re a fan of The Dave Matthews Band then I have something exciting for you. Yes, you can see Mr. Matthews and his misshapen head… and in 3D no less! Just mosey on over to Olympus Pointe in Roseville or the new Palladio 16 in Folsom to witness: DAVE MATTHEWS IN 3D: LARGER THAN LIFE. Yay? What else you ask? Well go beyond the break and find out silly… (more…)
