Howdy folks, Bobert with this weekend’s theatrical offerings! Summer may be winding down, but it ain’t over yet. Director Judd Apatow is making sure of that by bringing moviegoers a Comedy starring the always popular Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan. Once again, you good folks will be treated to a mini-review from yours truly, a rare occurrence these days indeed. There are a couple other movies this week, including one about extraterrestrials taking up residence in someone’s storage space, and another about a robber that breaks into the wrong house. Anyways, go beyond the break to check out the rest of what’s in store for us This Week@The Movies… (more…)

In this world of fierce competition for your gaming dollar, demos can be a vital tool for game makers to convince you into buying their product. They let you “sample the wares” and see if you really want to commit to buying the full game. Some demos will make you fall in love with a game, while others will make you dump a game like Whitney did Bobby. To find out whether Wanted: Weapons of Fate and Fuel deserve your attention, go beyond the break… (more…)

Hey folks, Bobert here with the latest roundup of movie trailers and teasers and McJeffrey’s thoughts on said previews. As you’ll soon read he’s just a teensy bit cynical regarding the prospects of most of the flicks featured today, which include teasers for the comedic oddity HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, the Wachowski Bros. produced NINJA ASSASSIN, and the latest unknown graphic novel adaptation WHITEOUT. I’m a little more optimistic about some of these flicks, or at the very least I’m keeping an open mind. Be sure to click on the movie posters for their respective trailers and go beyond the break to check ‘em out… (more…)

There are times when I am looking at these trailers that I think of specific FnJ crewmembers and this week is no different (I always think of Biscuits because almost all of the trailer trash would fit nicely into his quest for achievement points.) Because of the new Modern Warfare 2 trailer, I was reminded of the many months I spent playing COD4. Go beyond the break to find out why… (more…)

Howdy folks, Bobert here with this week’s New Release Tuesday! Wow, its gonna get expensive up in here. I had a real hard time narrowing down my choices because there were a lot of really interesting oddities offered this time out, along with a glut of more run-of-the-mill options. I’ve also separated the TV show releases into its own category, since not all of us have the time to devote to a new 24-episode series on a weekly basis and didn’t want to take up space that could go to other notable discs. And I’ll mention quickly that Rob Reiner’s 1984 Mock-Rockumentary THIS IS SPINAL TAP and Terry Gilliam’s Sci-Fi Apocalyptic Thriller 12 MONKEYS are both on glorious blu-ray this week, which makes me a very happy Hi-Def enthusiast. I would’ve included them in the below list, but there’s so much new stuff that I had to make room. Go beyond the break to see what you’ll be spending your money… (more…)

The French have given us many things. Their fries, toast and kissing are all great examples of their relevant contribution to society. My first foray into French film is Eden’s Log. Does this flick surrender to a small budget? Go beyond the break to find out… (more…)

There’s a certain charm to a game that place in the Old West. Maybe it’s the mystique of a bygone era in American history, or just the simple bad-assness of the lawless world our country used to be. Whatever it is, it works to the advantage of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and turns an otherwise standard first person shooter into an above average experience. No, its not better than a Call of Duty game, although it feels remarkably like Call of Duty 2 and 3, and it may become a forgotten title in a matter of months, but Call of Juarez: BiB is a title deserving of at least a look for fans of FPS or Old West games. German director Doris Dorrie’s has made a one heck of a fine mortality tale. Cherry Blossoms is an often gripping and altogether sobering story about how two people who have known each other nearly their whole lives can still not truly know everything. Sadly, it is usually only in death that any new revelations about a person are ever really known. Go beyond the break for the full review… (more…)

Are you tired of buying the latest hot game title, only to take it home and realize it looks good but leaves something to be desired when it comes to the overall experience? The problem with many big budget titles today is the emphasis is put on making the game look great at the expense of other more important game aspects. Gamers and Critics alike often comment more on how good a game looks as opposed to how well the game actually plays. For this reason, I bring you A Few Reasons Why…Videogame Graphics are Overrated beyond the break… (more…)
