Hopefully many of you are still enjoying Fight Night Round 4 that released just last week, since this week is looking a little light on quality titles. There are still a few titles that may be worth your time though, and one particularly interesting title that definitely should move some copies, but sadly probably wonʼt. Overall though, you could probably get by this week holding on to your hard earned cash since the theme of this week and this month seems to be movie tie-in games with last weekʼs Transformers offering. Go beyond the break to see what’s coming out in this the last week of June and 1st week of July. Happy 4th everybody… (more…)

This was brought up in a podcast, that might not ever see the light of day, when we talked about the scary amount of remakes in Hollywood. Well I said I was going to start recasting films that will be remade or destroyed sooner or later. The thing with Hollywood in today’s world is you have to make sure to add more ethnicity to be politically correct, so some of them might be a little different. So I present “The Goonies” if produced by Hollywood today. Go beyond the break to check it out… (more…)

Welcome to the big one folks, the Summer weekend of 2009 that will supposedly blow all others out of the backyard pool. It also happens to be the weekend that a couple of smaller but interesting flicks gets their big screen run. But can anything survive the onslaught of the formidable BayFORMERS? Unlikely, but let’s at least give it the good old college try beyond the break… (more…)

It’s not hard to see an ironic connection between the financial bankruptcy of General motors and the moral bankruptcy of the Transformers film franchise. With both the car company and a movie that heavily showcases GM’s cars now contributing to my opinion, a dumbing down of society, appealing to base instincts. I for one never thought going in to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; I would come out having seen something as crude and sordid as what was presented. Now with one obnoxious juggernaut down, can the other be far behind? Go beyond the break to find out… (more…)

Hey folks, Bobert’s here with the latest and very late edition of New Release Tuesday, helping you the consumer dredge through all the dreck and get to the good stuff. And boy o’ boy there is a ton of dreck this week. In fact, there’s not one solitary big release worth your time and money. But being the thorough fellow that I am, I’ve still included them below. Fear not, there’s still a few goodies to satiate your cinematic appetite. Go beyond the break to see what I’m talking about… (more…)

As talked about on the FNJ podcast, there is rarely anything new in Hollywood. We are inundated with remakes, reboots and recycled movies. Does “The Taking of Pelham 123″ fall into the pit of remake despair, or does it manage to rise above and take its place among this summer good movies? Go beyond the break to find out… (more…)

It’s another great week for video game releases no matter what system you’re gaming on, and even you Wii owners get a few big boy games to play with. As you may or may not know, my Wii and I got back together recently after a very long separation. Now that we’re playing nice again I’m wading through the weekly garbage bin that is the Wii release list and am now more carefully picking out the gems, and there is a gem this week. Considering that ninety percent of titles for Wii are crap, that’s a tough task. Ninety percent. It’s a fact. Anyway, go beyond the break to see what’s coming out during this the fourth week of June… (more…)

Business was up overall this weekend at the Box Office, with both Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds enjoying the best opening weekends for one of their films ever. THE PROPOSAL premiered in 1st place with $33 Million, hinting that audiences were thirsty for a braindead RomCom after a month long drought. THE HANGOVER is still riding high in the 2nd position with $26 Million, bringing the raunchy comedy ever so closer to that coveted $200 Million tally (remember when $100 Mil was impressive?). Pixar’s UP dropped to 3rd but added another $23 Million to its already $200 Million gross. The biblical comedy YEAR ONE from Harold Ramis debuted In 4th place with a modest $19 Million, somewhat overcoming the wretched reviews from critics in it’s first weekend out but sure to drop out of sight in subsequent weeks. The Denzel Washington-starring thriller THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123 missed the money train and slid down to last place on the top five, picking up a mere $12 Million. Go beyond the break for the rest of the weekend’s box office results… (more…)
