The Tsuj’s Game+Watch: First Week of April 2009!
A Look At The Big Game Releases Of The Week!

picture-38Whatup peoples! Welcome to April, the month of rain, flowers, and Metaldy’s birthday! He turns 49 years young today! Wait, that doesn’t sound right. I’m sure he’ll post a comment to correct me, but anyway, on to games. It’s another light week for releases across the board so you can save up your cash for the new DSi that drops next week. You know you want one. It would be un-American not to support our nation’s favorite console maker and the pride of Japan, Nintendo! I don’t actually want or need another DS but prepare to hear about my latest purchase during next week’s Game & Watch. Here’s what’s releasing in the mean time… (more…)

The Box Office Space!
A Look At The Weekend’s Winners And Losers!

1112103104959

Bouncing back from a lull that had lasted several weeks, box office receipts were up compared to the same time frame last year. All thanks to DreamWorks Animation’s MONSTERS Vs. ALIENS, easily beating out the competition to claim the number one spot with $58 Million. THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT didn’t too shabby with $23 Million to secure 2nd place. Certainly no box office blockbuster by any means, but considering the Horror flick had no major talent attached, it had a surprisingly good turnout. KNOWING slipped to the 3rd spot in the top five, with $14.7 Million to add to its tally. I LOVE YOU, MAN experienced the lowest drop-off of all the top ten films, managing another modest $12.6 Million while falling to 4th place. And rounding out the list, DUPLICITY made $7.5 Million and had the steepest drop in attendance among the top five films. But undoubtedly the weekend’s biggest loser is the Renny Harlin-directed and John Cena-starring Actioner 12 ROUNDS, opening with a miserable $5.3 Million. I have a feeling the folks over at WWE Studios are gonna be licking their wounds over this one for awhile. Go beyond the break for the rest of the weekend’s box office results… (more…)

FlixnJoystix Presents: The Hollywood Junkyard!
Jon The Mick Rummages Through The Latest From Tinseltown!

hjy4I will say I am getting pretty scared for next year’s TV schedule. I am angry to have been reading that there will be even more reality show next year because of how cheap they are. And as a lover of TV, I can say that I am pissed. Why pay a writer to create something with depth, when I can have a bunch of young coeds act like whores for a pay day? Less “Chuck” and more “Mama’s Boys.” Holy shit, I understand that the money is going to be slimmer than normal, but don’t get rid of shows that go on you for something that makes a lot of us want to throw our TVs out the window. Forget the writers and their families; we need to help the borderline retarded girls get a banged by a guy for a month. As for the rest of the shit Hollywood had for us this week, here we are… (more…)

Find Out All There Is To Know About KNOWING!
Kryos Knows All About The Latest Hollywood Sci-Fi Thriller!

knowing1Optimists will tell you that, “Everything happens for a reason”. If that’s true, what could possibly be the reason for this movie’s existence? Is it to help us appreciate genuinely good movies? Was it to perpetuate Nicolas Cage’s ongoing track record of terribly subpar performances? Or was it simply to cram a preachy message down the throats of moviegoing audiences? God supposedly works in mysterious ways, but even He’s looking at this movie in bewilderment… (more…)

Bobert@The Movies!
A Quick Look At The Weekend’s Cinematic Offerings!

film22Howdy folks, Bobert here with this week’s edition of Bobert@The Movies! And it looks to be a very weak offering in theaters this weekend, at least for yours truly. A Haunted House movie, a WWE Action flick, and computer animated flick from the Studio that gave us the SHREK and MADAGASCAR films (not a compliment). Locally speaking however, there’s plenty to be excited about. WALTZ WITH BASHIR, the Oscar nominated Animated Documentary from Israel and an excellent film, finally arrives to the Tower Theatre in Downtown Sac. bd then over at The Crest, not only do we get SUNSHINE CLEANING, but Trash Film Orgy celebrates Spring Break with a showing of 1984′s HARD ROCK ZOMBIES! You know where I’m going to be Friday night! Read on beyond the break to see what’s being offered up… (more…)

The Factor’s Word On The Street: HALO WARS!
Halo Goes RTS And Has Some Kinks To Work Out!

hw2

Hey folks, Tsuj here. Today I proudly introduce the newest member of the Flixnjoystix family. The Factor is a great personal friend, a gaming enthusiast, and one hell of an opinionated son of a bitch. He brings with him a unique and unpredictable perspective on the videogame industry, no doubt influenced by his residing in a red state. Although a self-proclaimed freelance writer, keep an eye out for his recurring installments of Word on the Street here at Flixnjoystix, beginning with his debut article in which The Factor explores his love/hate relationship with Halo Wars, the surprisingly popular real-time strategy game found exclusively on the Xbox 360. So brace your eyeballs and please for the love of God, leave comments. The Factor loves attention and encouragement. He’s like a woman in that regard — or a dog — enjoy… (more…)

The Tsuj’s Game+Watch: Final Week Of March 2009!
A Look At The Big Game Releases Of The Week!

game22Happy Spring everybody! I hope everyone out there is having a fantastic March and looking forward to an even better April. Ok, enough well-wishing, on to videogames. It looks like we’re going to get out of March with our wallets intact as the last full week of March holds little promise. Despite the decent number of releases for the major systems, none seems to approach the excitement level of a Resident Evil 5. It looks like March peaked a little early, but there’s nothing wrong with that since I have been having such a damn good time bustin’ caps in zombie asses (yes, I know they’re not technically zombies). However, if you feel the urge to spend money unwisely, as I often do, then here is what you might look to waste your money on in this, the fourth week of March… (more…)

Bobert Wants To Be WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!
The First Teaser For The Fantasy Adaptation Goes Online!

wildthingsHey folks, Bobert here! It’s trailer time once again, and this time its for a flick that has been long in the making. It’s also experienced quite a bit of turmoil and difficulties, with rumors as far back as a year ago hinting that the production was close to being scrapped. I am of course talking about WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, the classic Children’s Fantasy story that’s been adapted for the Big Screen by filmmaker Spike Jonze. Whatever issues they may have had, they look to be resolved, as the images to be found in this teaser are goosebump-inducing. I suppose the use of Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” tune doesn’t hurt things. Anyway, click here to check out the teaser in glorious quicktime over at Apple’s trailer site. Or simply go beyond the break to see a slightly-less-glorious embed from Trailer Addict… (more…)
