Our regular “Games” contributor, Biscuits, wanted to chime in real quick on recent reports regarding Bungie’s development of HALO 3:
Bungie is being patient and making sure no corners are cut for the up and coming project Halo 3. I for one am pleased to hear that. Some company’s today are easily persuaded into pushing out unfinished work, as a result of that, we the gamer suffer poor graphics, controls, story and above all, fun. What makes the HALOs of yesteryears great may not match up to today’s higher standards. The bar has been raised, expectations are high and this game can’t disappoint. Let’s face it Xbox fans, this is the reason you bought your Xbox. With all that said, lets get down to the breaking news. There have been reports of two editions coming to the 360. If you’re a true gamer you will fork a little extra cash and get the legendary edition that comes packaged with a Spartan helmet Along with bonus DVDs and special content. Oh yes….. HALO 3 will obviously have new maps. Valhalla, Snowbound and High Ground are being compared to Blood Gulch, Zanzibar and Frostbite. Along with new maps we can expect new weapons and some have already been confirmed. The brutes will be armed with Spike Grenades and Spike Rifles. The grenades are said to attach to walls and detonate into a violent explosion of sharp projectiles. If the spike grenades are as dangerous as they sound, say goodbye to the sticky bomb. There’s also word on a new Spartan Laser, a difficult-to-control but powerful weapon that can disable vehicles in a single hit. Also, there’s news of a “man” cannon. Not much has been described in great detail but it is said you can shoot yourself into the air and fire down on enemies. Sounds like a great feature to me. That’s all that has been confirmed for now as more information hits we will report.

This has been a golden age for comic video games. With the success of video games series such as Spider-man and X-men, companies are beginning to recognize that not only are good quality comic based games achievable, they are also a great market to tap into. Legions of fans will at least take a look at the game, if not buy it, with little to no advertising. These games let fans become their favorite heroes, and many of them let the player “develop” that hero throughout the course of the story via upgrades. These can truly make for rewarding gaming experiences. With that in mind Eidos interactive has released Justice League Heroes, and while I can’t honestly call it a must play for all gamers, I feel good about recommending it to anyone that is a fan of the Justice League.

If it’s not one thing, its another! Just when my GUITAR HERO II-induced sabbatical just began to wind down, I go and buy myself a Xbox 360 and GEARS OF WAR. I’m pretty much wasting my life away on video games, something I haven’t done since my gaming glory days of yore! Plus, with Turkey Day comes time spent with friends and family, so no updates for a while folks. Have a good one everyone, we’ll be back soon!

Hey folks, going to keep it short and sweet cause I gotta get back to GUITAR HERO II. As you can probably guess, I’m probably unlikely to see these flicks this weekend. But who knows, maybe, somehow, I’ll get tired of rocking out to tunes like “Freebird”, “Mother”, and “Killing In The Name Of” and make it out to see one of these flicks. Anyway, click on the pics below for more on the respective flick!

With the previously announced news that the SPIDER-MAN 3 trailer premieres tonite at 10pm (ET/PT) across all CBS and MTV networks and websites, I thought it would be prudent on my part to post these pics of what looks like pre-production art of the upcoming film’s group of villains. I hesitated when these were initially leaked to the net because I’ve grown tired of posting fake or fan-made art, but this looks to be the real deal. Not only because of the detail, but because other sites that have posted these images have been asked by Sony Pictures (Spidey’s movie studio) to remove them. We’ll see if they come after little ole me. In the meantime, click on each image for a much bigger look! And be sure to tune in tonite to catch that Spidey 3 trailer!

Hey folks, Bobert here. As you may or may not know, today is a very special day. It’s GUITAR HERO 2 Day! Yes, after many months of faux-shredding to classics like “Thunder Kiss ’65″, “Infected”, “More Than A Feeling”, “Hey You”, “Ziggy Stardust”, and “Cavemen Rejoice”, we “Gee-tar” heroes can now rock out to a whole new slew of Rock & Roll tracks. I’ll save my review for another time, but I just wanted everyone to know why I’ll be officially MIA for the next 48-72 hours. I’ll try to get this week’s NEW RELEASE TUESDAY up either later tonite, or tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope you’ll all be rocking out like me! Peace, Love, and Rock & Roll!

BAROT surprised everyone this weekend, bringing in almost three times what analysts had pegged the film to make. Originally believed to bring in a modest figure in the $10 Million range, the Mockumentary about a Kazakhstanian journalist that travels to America surpassed all expectations by actually making that on opening day alone. The film went on to make an estimated $26 Million, beating out THE SANTA CLAUS 3 (which opened in four times as many theaters than the in-limited-release BORAT). The third installment in the Holiday family flick franchise only brought in $19 Mil, securing the second spot in the top ten. While Aardman Animations’ first foray in CG Animation, FLUSHED AWAY, had to settle for third place. Check out the top ten chart below for details on the rest of this weekend’s winners and losers, and be sure to come back next time to find out who the next Box Office champ and chump will be!
