Confessions Of A Filmaholic: Summer 2010 Movie Preview!
McJeffrey Reveals The Movies He’s Looking Forward To This Summer!

It’s summer again. Well, technically it isn’t but don’t tell the bean counters over at the movie studios this. As far as they’re concerned there are only three seasons and winter is not one of them. For the next four months, we the movie going public will be bombarded with a symphony of big films that will dazzle, entertain and in all likelihood rot a few brain cells. Before you now are the top twenty most anticipated films of the season as far as I’m concerned. A lot of the usual suspects are here with more than a dollop of smaller films that made me raise an eyebrow or two. Overall, this summer seems to have more original films but those are the ones that will most likely tank (with a few exceptions). But enough with my ramblings already right? Let’s get to it… (more…)

Confessions Of A Filmaholic: ME, MY MOM & THE MOVIES!
Part 3: McJeffrey & His Mom Check Out AN EDUCATION And A SERIOUS MAN!

Every year, my mom and I watch all the Academy Award nominations for best film. This year, with the number of eligible nominees doubled from five to ten we had our work cut out for us. Fortunately, half of the films are available on DVD so our movie going budget stays the same at five films. Here are our thoughts on the final two films viewed. I actually forgot I didn’t finish this. My apologies go to anyone who was anxiously chomping at the bit for the conclusion of this series. Next year (if it goes down) I will combine all the films into one major article. But until then do yourself a great service and go beyond the break to find out what my mother thought of the remaining films… (more…)

FnJ PODCAST Presents: 4 FAT GUYS + A MOVIE!
Bobert, McJeffrey, Tofu, & Travisty Discuss All Things Movie Related!

Howdy folks, Bobert here with the premiere of a brand new podcast brought to you by some of the good folks from the FnJ Podcast! As some of you have probably noticed in recent episodes, the regular podcast has almost completely abandoned talk regarding movies and such. I’m a rabid film buff, so I couldn’t just sit idly by and accept this. But at the same time, I didn’t want to risk jeopardizing the comedy gold that is woven when the FnJ Podcast crew is left unfurled. The solution to my dilemma? Make a new podcast! I gathered the resident film lovers, myself, McJeffrey, Tofu, and Travisty (making his only 2nd appearance on a show ever!), and came up with the catchy title: 4 FAT GUYS + A MOVIE! We discuss the new releases in theaters and on home video, providing detailed analysis and reviews of the films we’ve recently seen. We’ve also began transporting the Movie News Reel over, to ensure there isn’t any overlap between the two podcasts. The first episode features all four of the aforementioned Fat Guys, while the other two currently available featuring a rotating cast that includes BobCat and Feo Teo (both in their first ever appearances on a show!). So far we’ve covered COP OUT, THE CRAZIES, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, REPO MEN, and ton more. So if you love movies as much as we fatties do, then you owe to yourself to give it a listen and let us know what you think! We’re available on the iTunes Store, so please subscribe and write a review! And don’t forget to check us out on Mevio.com!

Confessions Of A Filmaholic: ME, MY MOM & THE MOVIES!
Part 3: McJeffrey & His Mom Check Out DISTRICT 9 And UP IN THE AIR!

Every year, my mom and I watch all the Academy Award nominations for best film. This year, with the number of eligible nominees doubled from five to ten we had our work cut out for us. Fortunately, half of the films are available on DVD so our movie going budget stays the same at five films. Here are our thoughts on the last two films viewed.

Note: Even though the Oscars are done and over with, I still wanted to bring to attention my mom’s thoughts on the remaining four films we watched in preparation for the Academy Awards. Go beyond the break for Part 3… (more…)

FlixnJoystix Presents: Confessions Of A Filmoholic!
McJeffrey Brings Us His Time-Coded OSCAR Awards Show Recap!

Hooray for Oscar night! The one day of the year where I go out of my way to celebrate celebrities and all of their shallow holdings. This year’s Oscars had promised to be shorter, but with the inclusion of five more Best Picture nominees, I held my expectations at bay. All I can say is I’m glad I live on the west coast. Poor east coast! Suckers!! So let’s get right into it shall we? Go beyond the break for the whole messy affair… (more…)

Confessions Of A Filmaholic: ME, MY MOM & THE MOVIES!
Part 2: McJeffrey & His Mom Check Out HURT LOCKER And PRECIOUS!

Since 1997, I have taken it upon myself to drag my mom to every film that gets nominated for Best Picture by the Academy Awards. That first year we saw Good Will Hunting, As Good as it Gets, L.A. Confidential, The Full Monty and Titanic. My favorite was Confidential. She loved As Good as it Gets. Of course, Titanic won. This quickly became a tradition for us and a fine way to spend quality time yelling at each other based on the other person’s taste. She hated American Beauty, Moulin Rouge and Babel (three films I very much enjoyed). She also watched No Country for Old Men virtually from a slit between her fingers. She was that freaked out. However every once in a while, she surprises me. She enjoyed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York, three films I would assume she would despise. She loved Life is Beautiful, Juno and Finding Neverland, three films that she probably never would have seen unless we did this silly annual journey. This year, with the number of eligible nominees doubled from five to ten we had our work cut out for us. Fortunately, half of the films are available on DVD so our movie going budget stays the same at five films. Go beyond the break for our thoughts on the lastest two films viewed… (more…)

The Official FnJ PODCAST: Episodes 50 + 51!
The Staff Discusses Life, Love, & Everything Geeky!

Ladies and Gentleman, I’m proud to present — the 50th episode of The FnJ Podcast! Obviously this is already a week old, but I wanted the announcement post to be eventful nonetheless. And quite an eventful show we had! Not only was our SuperFan Melissa there to show off her Eva Mendez skirt, our first (and probably only) call-in show featured a number of guests, including one that threatened the life of our dear friend Metaldy! The caller even sent the staff a dead bird as proof of his intentions! Don’t believe me? Check out the pics beyond the break for photographic evidence! Episode 51 is also up, and with a title like “Anal-Eaze”, how could you not want to listen to it right away?! To further celebrate our 50th milestone, we’ve switched from the Video Games category on iTunes to straight-up Comedy! So remember to subscribe to the FnJ Podcast on the iTunes Store and leave us your thoughts and comments, we love the attention as you know! We also have a new home at Mevio.com, so you can find us there too! (more…)

The Official FnJ PODCAST: Episode 49!
The Staff Discuss Movies, Games, & Everything Geeky!

Hey folks, Bobert here with the episode 49 of the FnJ Podcast, plus a special announcement! I know last time I said I would only post Podcast announcements every three episodes, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew what’s happening with the upcoming 50th episode! First things first, the latest episode is up and its called “Muther F**kin’ Disneyland”! In it the FnJ staff discuss their impressions on Super Bowl 44 and the commercials that everyone really watches the game for. Tsuj and Kryos talk about MASS EFFECT 2, and McJeffrey lays the smack down on FROM PARIS WITH LOVE.  All that and more on the new episode of the FnJ Podcast!

Now, for the 50th podcast announcement! On Monday Feb. 15th, we will be conducting our very first call-in show! From 6pm to 8pm PST, we’re giving you the listener a chance to call in during the recording of a podcast. You’ll be able to ask one or all of the Staff one question, so come up with a good one! And if that wasn’t special enough, the first 5 callers get their very own official FnJ Podcast T-shirt! So when 6 o’clock rolls around on Monday, get on Skype, send “FnJPodcast” a text and get yourself into the call queue! And remember to subscribe to the FnJ Podcast on the iTunes Store and leave us your thoughts and comments, we love the attention! And if for some reason iTunes ain’t working for ya, you can find us right here too!
