Halo Beta is like Crack. No, not introduced to the ghetto by the government in order to control minorities. It’s highly addictive and tough to put down. Does it have the staying power to be your drug of choice? Go beyond the break to find out… (more…)

I am going to step out here on a limb and tell you people that there are some weeks when watching trailers is just ho-hum. I mean the trailers are good, but sometimes you just want something that gets you pumped or at very least makes you laugh. This week I went in excited because a couple of these previews are for highly anticipated games; which I will admit makes the trailer that much more exciting to see. So go beyond the break and let’s watch us some trailers… (more…)

September has arrived and with it comes the beginning of the busy Holiday video game release season, a time when wallets become lighter and girlfriends become angrier. I wish all months could be like August where I managed to restrain myself from purchasing every game released and only picked up Madden 10 and Batman: Arkham Asylum, two games that I wouldn’t mind being stranded on a desert island with. My video game time was both satisfying and plentiful with just these two titles (I’m almost done with my second playthrough of Batman: AA). Quality above quantity; it’s a new motto I’m trying to live by. Unfortunately, the first week of September doesn’t seem to allow such restrained purchasing habits as some major releases hit store shelves, including one who’s title ends in “Hero”. Yikes. Go beyond the break to see what’s releasing during the first week of September… (more…)

To a busy gamer with everyday responsibilities like work, friends, family, relationships, and writing for a video game website, time is a very precious commodity. It’s essential that we be picky when making purchasing decisions with our games, especially as we enter the busy Holiday season. This week show’s no mercy though as there is a surprisingly diverse selection of games releasing this week and a variety of gamers will find something to purchase and have a great time with. Me? I’m going to buy Batman: Arkham Asylum and I’m going to love the hell out of it. I loved it at E3 and I loved the recently released demo so this one is a must-buy. If I show the amount of discipline that I hope I do then that will be it for me, but temptation is strong this week and my willpower will be tested during one of the strongest release weeks of the Summer. Go beyond the break to see what’s coming out for the last week of August… (more…)

Who doesn’t love the month of August? I mean come on, I’ve been getting in a month of solid NCAA 10 with my online Dynasty alongside Factor and Tsuj, and this Friday Madden comes out. I am so looking forward to the online franchise with the FnJ crew…Go Dolphins! August also means another season of real Football is upon us, so to celebrate all the love I have for sports this will be an all-sports Joystick Tailer Park. That’s right my friends, tis the season for sports releases and I’m bringing them to ya, so grab that beer-hat and that bag of chips and go beyond the break… (more…)

Madden NFL 10 comes out on Friday. Yeah, Friday the 14th; it’s the same date every year, but the day of the week changes. Hopefully you’ve noticed that by now. Is there anything else you need to know this week? Great, now that we got that out of the way I would like to feature a different game release this week. Paws & Claws: Pet Vet – Australian Adventures is due out this Wednesday for the Nintendo DS, and I would like to highlight this momentous occasion by retelling an Australian adventure I once had that may or may not have happened. Intrigued? Really? Well, prepare for a tale of epic irrelevance beyond the break… (more…)

This weekend we celebrated the 29th birthday of FnJ’s own Jewsh, so this week’s edition of Game+Watch is dedicated to him. Which is quite fitting since this week’s selections are appropriately weak, like Jewsh’s video game skills. Ahhh, I’m just kidding brother, we love ya. Let me just say that I love me some Queen, but I don’t do Singstar and will once again refrain from dropping forty to sixty bucks into the industry that I love so dearly. These Summer months can be brutal on those of us with irresponsible spending habits and a love of gaming, but it’s pretty easy to see that there are better ways to spend your money than on a video game adaptation of G.I. Joe… (more…)

There are times when I am looking at these trailers that I think of specific FnJ crewmembers and this week is no different (I always think of Biscuits because almost all of the trailer trash would fit nicely into his quest for achievement points.) Because of the new Modern Warfare 2 trailer, I was reminded of the many months I spent playing COD4. Go beyond the break to find out why… (more…)

It is that time of the year again. After a month or so off I am bringing back the Joystick Trailer Park. I am sure you have missed it and you can expect an edition every week again. I also think it is about time for another Jewsh Box, but that is for another time. Combing through this week wasn’t easy. I do my best to bring you something that is worthy of your time since we all know how truly valuable time is (and Jesus only knows I don’t have much of it). I’m switching things up again because there are 2 trailers that just really annoyed me, so you’re getting double the Trailer Trash this week… (more…)

Ok, so maybe this week’s list of video game releases isn’t as bad as I said on the podcast. After all, Tofu’s Most Anticipated Game of 2009 is one of the titles to come out this week. Blu-Ray movies and games on one disc, 3D games packaged with 3D glasses, and Wii games that are actually good and don’t use motion control, all come out during the third week of July. Oh, and did you see that Comic-Con exclusive Street Fighter IV arcade stick that they unveiled this week? Man, that thing looks pretty sweet. Yeah…. It’s funny how a random thought can totally disrupt the creative writing process isn’t it? Game+Watch July Week 3 all up in your face… (more…)
